Daisy's Story Page 2
Miss Daisy got a full night's uninterupted sleep complete with loud snoring last night - as you can see from this morning's photo, her eyes are more alert and rested! You can actually see hapiness in those big brown eyes Ongoing concern remains her right ear which is still quite sensitive but it's getting better every day. She is walking for longer periods of time and is becoming a little more adventurous in the garden - lots of snooping and smelling and more aware of her surroundings. Her bowel movements have greatly improved - 2-3 times a day (smaller and firmer stools)!! The medication that Dr. Auger gave for her mouth has worked wonders as well - (and she loves the taste which helps) - Her mouth emits a more pleasant ordor which is nice for me because she has begun to give me lots of kisses!
Just a quick update on Daisy's progress. The first is taken while she sits with me watching a bit of National Geographic - she actually looks at the TV and reacts to certain sounds!!! Notice the ears are up (a rare occurence for her). The second was while taking her stroll in the garden. The hot weather isn't really condusive to long walks but she does a few laps around the yard then flops on her belly ready to be picked up and taken inside the house. She cannot manoever the stairs yet and I think it will be a while before she has the confidence and strength in her back legs to do so.
Daisy's Dental Surgery
This was taken after undergoing dental surgery to extract 13 teeth!! Poor little angel. These are photos taken of Daisy upon her return home. She is quite weak and in a lot of pain.
Maggie came to offer a bit of encouragement.
Daisy fully relaxed for the very first time; she had no worries today :-)
These photos were taken today while Daisy and Maggie were playing outside. Daisy is wearing her new leash (it took several days before she became comfortable with it).
Daisy actually took her first walk down the sidewalk - a whole half block! She was nervous because of the cars, bicycles, skateboarders, etc. but did very well. Tomorrow we will try to walk a little further!
October Update
Miss Daisy is progressing very well. She is adapting to a nice quiet normal routine. She is eating well, sleeping well and is enjoying life as a normal dog. She now enjoys her evening walks in the park and is slowing shedding her fear of people.
Daisy is responding in a positive way to people approaching her for a pet although she is still a bit apprehensive of strangers. Her gums are very nearly healed and has started eating some kibble with her wet food.
Daisy's skin is improving although she still scratches now and again. Maggie and she get along very well although Daisy is relunctant of sharing her toys - how they keep track of what toy belong to whom is a mystery, but they seem to know which one belongs to them. All being well, Daisy will be ready for spaying next month and Suzanne (Daisy`s foster mum) will discuss this with her Vet soon. As you can see, Daisy loves to lounge on Suzanne's bed and for a small girl, she takes up quite a bit of space (you can see Maggie scrunched up at the head of the bed) and she also loves to be close to the fireplace.
Please note that Daisy is not currently available for adoption. She will be fostered with one of our wonderful foster homes for as long as it takes to get the precious little love back on her paws again. Go back to Page 1 of Daisy`s Story.
